The Ever Trendy Self-Imposing Political Pundit Rock Star

What's up with Neil Young? Isn't it a little late to jump on the anti-Bush bandwagon? Bush has less than two years left in office. I understand political frustration and such, but doesn't it become embarrassing to grasp at career-straws by writing anti-war, anti-president albums? It's like when REM wrote Orange Crush, which is a good song, but lyrically Viet Nam was over for more than 20 years when it was written. Ministry? One of their new songs is called The Great Satan with samples of George Bush. Good song, but annoying because of the trendy lyrics. The Flaming Lips...the Polyphonic Spree...I want to cry. What is their goal? Is it to join an exclusive club of enlightened elites like Fonda, Streisand, etc? And here is the kicker: What are their answers, their solutions? I've honestly heard none, nothing, except for complaining. We know Bush's answer. What is theirs? Honestly, all they do is smear, character killing...but no alternative. Sure, one could say they are trying to utilize their influence to sway the next elections, but still they have no answers. Neil Young had some good music, but man, step down from your pedestal. I hope he can remember, this southern man don't need him 'round anyhow.

Bruce Springsteen is jumping into the fray this week with the release of his collaborative effort CD focusing on grassroots protest. I think it's titled, "We Shall Overcome", or some such nonsense. Good, just what we need, another uninformed entertainer railing against the system.

Well, I used to be conservative but I think the way things ought to run is in the center. I feel both Parties are run by the same people. By whom I don't know, and there is only so much I can do to change the system. By nature I'm conservative, but also I look forward to the Lord's government again in the near future. Man with all of our flaws can ruin a good thing. I think siding with any political party just leads to more antagonism and division, which may be the goal of whomever is running the parties. "Go back to sleep..." is what I hear. Anyways, I like waxing people in general. Wax on, Louis-san, wax off...

You already know "anti-establishment" songs have been going on for ages. Add System of a Down to the list. You're right- they offer nothing but distrust and unrest but no real solutions. Do they seriously believe anyone wants war? I guess they do. It's sad to me people will believe a "celebrity" and their stance without researching for themselves. I was guilty of it when younger, I admit. Used to love Neil Young. Some have gotten so political I can't stand to even listen to their music or see their films any more. Certain actors I won't pay money to see in the movies. Nobody knows or cares, but it's my own little personal boycott.

(Hey, I think I remember you have facial hair, if I recall correctly, so don't think I'm anti-patrick henry because of my post on my blog. You'll get the exception. Being the psychic head, you already knew that.) ;-)

Also has nothing to do with what you wrote, but hoping all's well out your way because the Weather Channel showed some pretty nasty weather out there in TX.

Wendela-tron, I have no idea what you are talking about in reference to facial hair. It takes me 3 months to grow a 1 cm. hair on my left cheek. I have naked-genes, so to speak. Actually, I have exactly 7 chest hairs on my left pec. SEVEN! Manly, I am. I'm a hairless monkey. Before we came to earth, we all got to pick hair genes, and it so happened EWL was in line ahead of me and she bogarted the whole box. Not that I care...

If you consider hair to be little blessings each and every one, then I am indeed truly blessed. I call my husband 'hairless chihuahua' due to his lack of chest or back hair which I like by the way. More proof that opposites attract, if we were both "Missing Links", it would doom our kids.

Can't believe you're still smarting over 'Southern Man' - get over it!
Anyone 'getting on the bandwagon' is better than ignoring what your foul government is inflicting on the world.

Well, if the world was not so stupid, look at Spain giving in to terrorists, look at the Phillipines, look at China's and Russia's rxn to Iran...The world is acting like a big insecure whiny beeyotch just because they feel the have no monetary or political clout. It would be the same if England was the world power...oh wait, it used to be, and the same thing happened. So, Pissy Hysterical, what is the alternative? Are you saying it is better to jump on a bandwagon without a thought because someones' musical idols are doing so than not? What are the answers? Is it better to follow shallow stupid people just because they sell a few records or some actors make some goofy movies? There are followers on both sides of the fence on this issue, and the majority seems to turn off their brains and hand their choices to fools. On both sides. As far as the U.S. government, the world put themselves in their plight, and if the world didn't like the U.S. so much, then stop kissing our ass and taking our money. Stupid non-U.S. governments, inflicting themselves on the self-sufficient hard-working entrepreneurial majority of the U.S. The rest of the world is smoking our Richard.

Why is all the maladies of the World placed on the "evils" of the U.S government? Yeah, it can be sucky. Yes, that's a direct result of Americans occasionally voting in unscrupulous leaders. However, why don't I ever see or hear mention of the human atrocities of the Chinese government? Whether that entails their forced abortion policy, or the harvesting of organs of their people for sale around the World. China is a bigger pollution hazard than America. Do the whacked out environmentalists target them? No. Why? Because the Chinese government doesn't allow protests in the street and would shoot their green asses. Memories of the anniversary of the uprising in Tiannamen Square. What about Iran threatening to nuke Israel if we dare make a fuss about their recent proliferation of nuclear arms? The "test" detonation of bombs between Pakistan and India. What about your home turf in Africa Pisces? Last time I looked the U.S. government hasn't sponsored a mass genocide in over 200 years. Not to mention the corrupt leaders like Robert Mugabe lining his pockets while kicking out white farmers and seizing their farm lands thus killing off their agricultural trade and watching his countrymen starve as a consequence of his racist idiocy. Korea's Kim Jong Il rattling the cage and threatening US, not the other way around. But no, leftists always overlook their Communist, socialist, terrorist brethrens and lay the finger of blame on us. We are the scapegoat every single time for radicals.

I don't mind music "with a message", but I avoid overtly political statements from under educated artists serving only to further polarize and divide a country who made them successful. Many entertainers are bordering on treason.

A little bit of history:
"Last time I looked the U.S. government hasn't sponsored a mass genocide in over 200 years."
Just off the top of my head: heard of Armenia; Angola? Just because you personally have not heard of it doesn't mean it hasn't happened.
"It would be the same if England was the world power" well duh!
Does that mean that you admit there's something wrong? If so why then throw a wobbly when somebody writes a song or makes a movie in an attempt to address the issues? (By the way - I don't idolise anyone)
The world is not picking on the American people, you guys have installed a government of corporate criminals whos illegal actions (and yes it has been proven) are effecting millions of people all over the world - it is your government that people despise.
9-11 should have been a wake-up call to America to stop its underhand activities in the Middle East (if you want to know the details they're easy to find - go do some research). Instead, as violence always begets more violence - the US administration used it as an excuse to do what they had been itching to do since baby bush got into power.
Yes there are many other dangerous governments out there, many of them 'democratically elected', but the fact remains that the US government is the most dangerous at the moment - the 'bandwagon' is merely the turning of the tide (hopefully).

'Pissy' is elastic's husband's pet-name for me and it is really hurtful to use it alongside 'hysterical' as an insult. I'm telling teacher on you.

Therefore you are saying 'the people' are the enemy because we elected the 'enemy government'. If the world wants to fix the U.S. government, the world needs to fix its own problems first. A little history for you, Pissy: way before Bush (1 and 2) were elected, terrorists were already working. I remember as a child watching the news of U.S. hostages in Iran. When I was born, there was an assasination of Israeli Olympic team members by terrorists. In the early eighties there was a Beirut bombing killing a lot of soldiers. While the beloved leftist Clinton was in office, there were two embassies bombed in Africa. The American people voted Bush out in 1992, before the embassy bombings in 1998. What about the U.S.S. Cole? That was before the current Bush. Was that his fault? What about the way U.S. treats the world, and we are finally receiving our retribution by a fed-up world? Why does the U.N. and the world need our money? We fund the world, whether you like it or not. This current war is a religious war, not a 'peeved world finally lashing out at a bully country' as you seem to put it. I also have a problem with Bush, so don't think I'm a polarized Republican defending my choices. My problem with Bush is why haven't we leveled Iran or Syria? Why are we still in the U.N.? What does it lead to? The world is sucking our dick, but can't stop, and that is why the world hates the U.S. Anyone saying the U.S. is greedy only has to see the Tsunami relief we've provided the 'world', the billions of tax dollars going to Africa for AIDS, the yearly stipends going to all of the Middle East, and the money we give to China everytime we shop, and so on. You see, the world is made up of a bunch of lazy pusses who are addicted to their socialist lifestyles and yet hate it so much, they hate to see capitalism succeed. When it does, their choices aren't affirmed, so instead of exerting themselves, they denigrate the successful and chose hatred, because it's easier. That was what the whole post was about. Those without answers whine. And it may seem to you and everybody else the U.S. is swaying from Bush and the current administration, but it is because the war isn't as tough as it needs to be. Not because we are socialist pusses fed up with war, so don't get your hopes up.
